What Can Wash Away My Sin?
Can you answer the question: "What can wash away my sin?" If you said, "Nothing but the blood of Jesus", you are right. We are looking forward to witnessing the baptism of three individuals on Sunday. Baptism is one of the greatest acts to witness. I would rather observe and serve in a baptism than any other event or activity. It is more thrilling than observing any title game or party. Why? Because it is the evidence of the greatest WIN in all of life. A soul has been won. It was won back to God for now and eternity. And, it is time to celebrate. I remember the very first baptism that I conducted as a pastor. Five people, two couples along with one of their daughters, were baptized and afterward, we met at one of their homes and celebrated with cake and ice cream. It was awesome. When people get baptized, they go public with their faith and decision to follow Jesus. Baptism is an incredible expression of the death and resurrection of Christ. And, like Christ, we have died with him to sin and have been raised to life. Baptism has been called the "wedding ring" of the Christian life. It doesn't make you a Christian, but it is a public symbol that you are a Christian. Make no mistake about it, getting into a "baptistery pool" can no more make you clean than diving into a backyard swimming pool. Pool water can no more make you spiritually clean, than eating bread can make you spiritually full. If you go into the baptistery "dirty" (unsaved), you come out "dirty" (unsaved). If you go in clean, you come out clean. We encourage you to join us on Sunday and bring a friend!
