Who wants A Healthy Family, Productive Work, and Safe Cities… I DO! While it is not something we can be certain of, there is one thing for certain. God is more than enough for us. In preparation for tonight’s Bible study: How would you complete the sentence: “God Is My ____________”. I encourage you to read Psalm 144 and note the many things God can be to you. Question: When will you find God to be a rock, loving, fortress, stronghold, deliverer, shield, and refuge? Simply, it is when you need a rock, love, fortress, stronghold, deliverer, shield, and refuge. David had come to know God to be all that and much more. Can you think of some of David’s experiences that led him to know God in this way? How was God his Rock? His Love? When was God his Fortress? When did God hold him in His Strong Grip? What did God deliver him from? When did God shield David? David requested God’s deliverance. He even called for some “Tampa Bay Lightning” to strike and toast his foes. What is the most common request that we make for deliverance? After his deliverance, David sang a new song. Why do people write new songs? What are your three favorite songs? Why? Lastly, note that David mentions the outcome for those whom God rescues: 1. Family Benefits: Sons and Daughters who are Healthy and Stable. 2. Work Benefits: Work that Produces a Profit. 3. Civil Benefits: Cities that are Secure and Safe. Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace. 13 Our barns will be filled with every kind of provision. Our sheep will increase by thousands, by tens of thousands in our fields; 14 our oxen will draw heavy loads. There will be no breaching of walls, no going into captivity, no cry of distress in our streets. “Blessed is the people of whom this is true; blessed is the people whose God is the Lord.” Ps. 144:12-15 By Faith, Pastor Mike
