Hi Church!

Dare you…?
Dare any of you , having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?”  I Corinthians 6:1

The people living in the city of Corinth loved litigation and taking others to court.  The Corinthian courthouse was a busy and hectic place!  Sound familiar?  The wise preacher said, “there is nothing new under the sun.”   God’s word is as applicable today as it was 2,000 years ago!

So, you might not have known that Paul wrote that, but I am certain that you DID KNOW how much Americans enjoy taking others to court.  And they love just as much to watch/follow court cases.

According to https://www.onelegal.com/blog/top-court-filing-statistics-from-around-the-country/  there are 40 MILLION lawsuits filed in the United States every year!  Let that sink in, and it will make you sick.  And there are over 1.34 million lawyers ready to cover and to cash in on people’s feuds.  It is a sad commentary on the internal fights and feuds among us.   And it is a true sign that a country is in great turmoil and deterioration.  Far too many people are “sue happy” today, and they are motivated by sloth and greed.  They want a free ride rather than go to work for it.  They are looking for a “bailout” for their “fallout”.

In preparation for Sunday, I would like you to do a little homework!  It is a small assignment.  You can do this!  Read I Corinthians 6:1-11 and find the 10 questions that Paul asks the members of the Corinthian church.  It might help to underline, highlight or copy them down.

The questions were intended to help awaken some godly wisdom into their foolish, self serving and ungodly practices.   And they help us in 2022 to know when we should file a lawsuit.

Understand this, the Bible does not say that we are never to file a lawsuit, but it does give us some thought provoking questions that help us to decide when it is the right and wise thing to do.    Just this week I received a phone call and email from a well known Christian attorney’s office, David Gibbs III.   They have a critical role in the fight for life and liberty!   His personal mantra is “if it is wrong, fight it.  If it’s right, fight for it.”

We have seen GREAT GOOD come from those who chose to fight some recent rulings.   As a result the United States Supreme Court ruled to uphold gun rights in NYC and prayer rights were restored at a public school and the constitutionality of abortion was overturned.   Again, as the wise preacher said, “there is a time for everything… a time to fight and a time of peace”

Join us on Sunday as we learn to discern those times!

In God’s Gracious Grip,
Pastor Mike
