Hi Church!

What are the ingredients to making good chocolate chip cookies?  Do you know?  If you didn’t know, where would you find them?   You might find a recipe on the bag of chips. You would surely find a recipe in a good cookbook.

What are the ingredients to good marital intimacy?  Do you know?  If you don’t know, or you are struggling, where would you find them?   Would you call someone like Dr. Ruth or some other famous talk or radio show host?   Many, many, many do!  Or they watch things like Love Island or the Bachelor.  That helps, not!  One thing that really bothers me is that many Christian’s “feathers” get ruffled when you mention sex in church, like the three letter word is sinful.  It is not.   If there is any place that should be considered a “safe” place to learn about, it is in the church.  Most of the other sources set people up for failure.

This Sunday we are going to be learning the Ingredients to Good Intimacy.  Sex is sacred.  Did you know that the Bible talks about this?  It does.   2,000 years ago a church made a list of questions for the apostle Paul for answers.  One of the questions was about how do deal with their God-given sex drives!  Imagine that!

I don’t normally give you my points in advance, but this week I am.  Why?  I want you to have time to think about them before Sunday.   Here they are:

THE INGREDIENTS TO GOOD INTIMACY

  1. MAKE TIME TO MAKE LOVE.  “Do not deprive one another except with consent…”  I Cor. 7:5
  1.    INSPIRE DESIRE.   “I belong to my beloved, and his desire is for me.”  Song of Solomon 7:10
  1. IT ALL STARTS IN THE “KITCHEN”.   “In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together.”  I Peter 3:7

  1. “TO KNOW” IS TO REVEAL.  “And Adam knew Eve his wife..” Genesis 4:1

  1. SEEK FREEDOM AND HEALING FROM SEXUAL ABUSE.    “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Ps. 147:3

Reading down through that list may cause you some surprise.  Some may even think, “wow”.  He said that!  Actually, God said that.   Here is VERY BIG AND IMPORTANT PART OF THIS SERIES – IT IS NOT A BUNCH OF STOP DOING THAT – THAT IS OFF LIMITS – THAT IS SINFUL.  You see most pastors and most sermons are just a lot of NEGATIVE stuff.    That is very Sad.  Why?  Sex is one of the most amazing gifts that God created.  Like when Adam woke up from his God induced sleep, the first “sexual awakening”.   He was like WOW!  My dreams have come true!

Plan to join us on Sunday at 9:30 or 11:00 am as we continue our series –  “S-E-X”    It is going to be good.
