HOW HIGH IS YOUR DEBT CEILING… GIVE THANKS!

Hi Church!
Congress recently voted to raise the U.S. debt ceiling, essentially allowing themselves to take on more debt. Debt. We all know that while some debt may be necessary, it is never a good thing. The Bible cautions about debt. As a country, we are racking up an inconceivable amount of debt, like 28 trillion dollars. That is a lot of money that we owe. There are a lot of great lessons in this story. One is about another debt ceiling.
Jesus loved to tell stories to teach truth. They are called parables. A story that is thrown alongside of a truth to help us “get it”. This week we are going to be learning about one of the most important topics, forgiveness. When Jesus was asked, how many times do I have to forgive someone, he told a story. And he used the subject of debt to help us “get it”. You can NOT miss the message.
As an introduction, know this: God has no ceiling for our debt to him! Thankfully, because there isn’t a ceiling high enough to contain the debts that we have racked up against him. Every day we add to the debt. The numbers never stop turning. Yet, the Bible says that our sins have been covered, forgiven and separated as far as the east is from the west!. Wow. Aren’t you so thankful that God keeps no record of our wrongs! I am.
But it does not stop there. We have received, and we are to give forgiveness. We are to forgive, just as we have been forgiven. We need to learn what that means and what it does not mean. There is a lot of hurt and pain out there that we need to learn how to handle. So join us on Sunday at 9:30 am as we learn why we need to Raise Our Debt Ceiling!
