HAPPY PAYDAY!

Faith Baptist of Zephyrhills

Sept. 24th, 2021

Hi Church!

As I am writing this, it is Friday and that means it is payday for many people. Do you remember your first “payday”? Were you excited to receive some earnings for your hard work? I am sure that you were! When I was in high school my parents did not have the funds to pay me and my brother for the 40+ hours of work we did on the farm (my dad tried to make up for it years later by paying for us to go on big game hunting trips with him). So first paycheck came from the high school I was attended. They were looking for a “part-time janitor” after school to help with general cleaning of bathrooms and classrooms, and since I had some time before the start of basketball practice, I applied and was hired. I sure looked forward to those checks! They provided me with some cash for gas and dates, lol! Payday is not the only motivation for working, but it sure is one big one! Or it should be… God says that if a man does not work, he should not eat. God knows that we need some motivation.

So when Peter asked the question, “what will we have” come “payday”, Jesus assured him that he had nothing to worry about and everything to look forward to! He promised him a 100% return for his service, plus a high ranking position, and the best part.. it would be forever! But Jesus did not stop there. He told a story as he often did to drive the truth home into our hearts and minds. That is the story that we are going to look at on Sunday! Let me assure you, this story will grab your attention! It would drive labor unions crazy! Plan to join us at 9:30 am as we consider the question: PAYDAY: IS GOD FAIR?

Happy Payday,
Pastor Mike
